this is shirley, and she's been a wonderful customer and friend of rubber soul's since our very first days. it's so much fun to ask someone you've known for so many years a random fact about themselves. i certainly never could have imagined that salvador dali once kissed her hand at the betty parson's gallery in new york city! she said it's a long story, and i can't wait to hear more about it.

pam has been coming to rubber soul since our first weeks 16 years ago! i love her always kind spirit, and she feels just like family here. she LOVES color, and all the walls inside her house are purple. i can't believe i never knew this until just now.....this has been a really fun month learning about all of our friends here!

jessica is a local teacher who is known by students far and wide for her penguin stamps. i think this is just the greatest thing - if they complete their weekly lesson plans, they get their papers stamped with a penguin. oh, and not just any penguin - it might be a surfer penguin, or a farmer penguin, or a skiing penguin. thanks to memory box's vast array of whimsical penguins, ms. jessica and her students are never without smiles.

upon hearing marie's story in the shop (see earlier post) she revealed that she once got to shake john f. kennedy's hand at point mugu! we've been connected to miki for many years, as she used to own a stamp shop in a nearby town, and carried many of our stamps there. she still enjoys stamping, and meets up with a stamping/crafting group regularly. one more random fact about this lovely woman......she's a sharp shooter with a 22 rifle. who knew?

gosh, merrilyn and i just figured out that she's been coming to rubber soul for 15 years! halloween is her favorite holiday to make cards for. she's been involved in calligraphy for many many years, belongs to a calligraphy guild, and just attended a 2-day calligraphy workshop.

mom katherine loves to craft - she scrapbooks, makes cards, and loves to alter things. her latest project was a giant clothespin that she made into a picture holder. front and center is daughter emma ann, and she has read the entire harry potter series. doesn't she have the most beautiful smile?

marie is like family. she was one of our very first customers - quite literally. she entered our shop door, on our very first day, and heck, she may have actually been the first one! our wee little store had it's humble beginnings in a tiny space on the second floor in a building on front street in historic downtown poulsbo. you really had to love stamping to come seek us out. and here we are, over 16 years later, and marie is still a faithful rubber soul pal. she is one smart lady with a huge heart, and i'm always fascinated by all of her interests and philanthropic ways. and just when you think you know a person, you learn that they've been on the shoulders of tarzan (johnny weismiller) at the age of 4. who knew?
