here's another super simple card that was done recently with the ladybug in the grass stamp:
two stamps (the gandhi quote is definitely a favorite), a little color pencil, and that's it. sometimes the art of the designs can carry the whole card. have a good day, and thanks for the visit!
hi there! i've gotten off track as of late in posting cards here. all that lovin' and appreciating of all you lovely customers definitely mixed things up a bit. i sure had such fun with the whole thing!
this is such a simple card, and looks more exciting in person as the scan doesn't quite pick up the fun of the diamond glitter glue on the flowers, or the diamond glaze used on the lady bug stamp. the lady bug was stamped on a second piece of white cardstock, colored in with red pencil, and her body cut out and mounted on top of the main one with a tiny piece of the foam mounting tape. then chase life was stamped, and the diamond glaze was added to the lady bug as the last step.
summer has officially arrived here today! i'm not exaggerating when i say we haven't had any weather even closely resembling summer yet, so the forecast for the next ten days of all sun has us dancing in the streets. just give us a few days of 90 degrees and then us pacific northwesterners will be complaining how hot it is :) i hope you're all having a nice summer. thanks for checking in here!
as if overnight, it's bicycle weather here. we just broke an all-time record of the coldest may 5th ever, and then, just like that, everyone's in tank tops and shorts today. mid-60 temps will do that to us here in the northwest - it's an absolute heat wave :)
all this got me thinking how i've never posted a card here of one of my favorites - our bicycle stamp. boy, do i love bicycles, and a bicycle with a basket is pure happy-making in my book.

even though you may think i've forgotten about you, i haven't, and i really do heart you for patiently waiting for a new post to here. there have been lots of projects going on around here at rubber soul headquarters, which i'll tell y'all about as i surface from them. meanwhile, i just couldn't stand keeping my very favorite new stamp from you......
seriously, isn't it the best stamp you've seen this year? :) i have a crazy crush on it, and as if the typewriter isn't wonderful enough on its own merit, the little "i <3 u" is mounted to the side of the stamp, so you can use it special on cards for all your favorite friends, post delivery person, garbage collector, or anyone that makes your life a little better for being in it. i've developed quite a thing for vintage typewriters in the last couple of years, and it felt like high time we have a stamp of one.
for this card, i did a bit of piecing together. i stamped the typewriter a few different times; once on this white card, and again on another white piece, and then one last time on a piece of aqua card stock. i then cut out the body of the typewriter on the aqua stock, and attached it to the original stamped image on the white. then, out of the spare white piece i had stamped second, i cut out the center area with the keys, and the page coming out of the typewriter, and then attached them to the original one on the card. but, i only glued down the bottom quarter of the paper sheet coming out of the typewriter, and sort of bent out the paper so it would be obvious that it was a sheet coming out of the typewriter. (wow, did that make any sense? a technical manual writer i will never be.) i attached a tiny punched heart to the paper, and punched the corners with a corner rounder. i do love this card, and truthfully, it was inspired by this from our friends over at uppercase:

yes, i know christmas was a whole 4 days ago, but we just had to share one last holiday card with you because this is irma, and well, we named her after our mother who this drawing shows a very striking resemblance to. irma always made our christmases something really special and wonderful, and her trees were always so very sparkly and full of love.
here's hoping your holidays were lovely, and that many new wonderful memories were created. thank you for the visit!
every year, sixteen of them now, rubber soul has sponsored a day, just before christmas, for our customers to drop by and make cards for the residents of our local nursing home. we are holding the event once again this saturday, december 19th from 10-6. we have lots of different stamps, papers and inks available for use. all we need is you. this is always such a great day - we love seeing all ages of giving souls side by side, creating from and for the heart. so for you local folks, please drop by if you can, and help us put some smiles on the faces of the residents at the Martha and Mary nursing home. hope to see you saturday!
here is the post where we mercilessly tease you with our sweet new valentine release, to be revealed at the end of december. oh yes, while you've been baking and wrapping and hanging the stockings by the chimney with care, we've been all about the squishy love over here. the designs sure are a fun collection, and we can't show you a whole lot yet (well really we can, but we love building the intrigue!)

and there may or may not be some new monkey business
but if there is, you'll be able to see these little darlings in their entirety, in just two more short weeks.
