see how happy i am here?
that's because i was doing what every cell in my body loves to do most - adventuring on the open road, without any real plans, with my best pal.
nothing quite beats it, the road trip.
old funky motels that use real keys, diners that have no idea how cool they are, a one-burner stove to make hot teas in the mountains and heat up beans next to a lake, old empty gas stations, flowers scattered and wilting on the dashboard, wearing the same t-shirt for days, impromptu skinny dipping, josh ritter repeating in the player, and lots and lots of open-window air.
it's been nearly two years since the last one, since this photobooth session off the side of the road, somewhere between the cascade mountains in washington and idaho. ritzville i think it was. and it's all i can seem to think about.
i believe when you start putting dry cat food in the sugar bowl, forget to put shoes on when you go to work, and try to heat up your lunch on the copy machine, that it's time. time to dig up the road maps, locate the ice chest, and begin stock-piling packs of polaroid film.
yes. yes. some action must be taken.
soon.
very.
soon.
